When I was in Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout '84)...way before the Internet or real "home computing"... I kept the books for the troop as Scribe on my dad's Zenith Data Systems computer that used a 5" floppy and DOS-prompted BASIC. Dad was a data processing manager for a Charlotte-based manufacturer and occasional community college lecturer on computer programming -- COBOL, FORTRAN...now, ancient stuff. Dad wrote a program on the Zenith that would allow me to keep up with the dues and attendance for the scout troop. It made the job of Scribe much more interesting and I think it awakened my love affair with all things tech. Fast forward several years and take a look back at my "career" in technology and you'll find a pretty long list of projects that span the breadth of business and creative tech. I have designed, coded, launched and marketed an Intranet (in 1996, no less!). I have set up multiple wireless networks for small businesses. I have launched a web-based service that used WebEx and GoToMeeting to tap into a market that was not previously available to my company. I'm a blogger (obviously) and a social media maven -- currently serving as a marketing tech guru for a local firm. I've designed and set up multiple database projects for small to medium-sized businesses...including one not-for-profit theater company here in Atlanta. I'm an Apple nut and know most all things Apple. And I'm not bad at Photoshop either. All that said...I've got a very strong handle on technology and thoroughly enjoy it.
Add in my marketing and PR experience and training -- BS, Marketing, MBA, VP of Marketing and Strategy for billion dollar company, VP Marketing for small boutique consulting firm, PR freelancer, Arizona State's Service Marketing Institute alumni... and I think I have my own, unique combo.
RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology provides marketing technology solutions to small and medium size businesses, restaurants, etc. So what is "marketing technology?" My definition is any technology platform -- hardware or software -- that a business would use to engage its customers, staff, or prospects. It would include:
- Websites
- Blogs
- WebEx and GoToMeeting
- Skype
- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media
- Hootsuite and Twitter Analytics
- Email marketing campaigns
- YouTube
- Databases
- Paytrust
- Ebay, Amazon and other online retail sites
- Craigslist
- Digital imaging

On the hardware side:
- Office networks
- Wireless networking
- Mobile computing
- iPhone and other smart phone platforms
- New hardware purchase advice and setup
- Basic IT support
Small to medium-sized businesses often do not have the resources or expertise to handle launching a social media campaign, or expanding onto the Internet with an on-line retail presence, or...having an attractive, up-to-date website. RITCHBRANDON marketing.technology is their go to firm for that kind of help.
